Inter Milan will this week launch a bid for Manchester United’s £75 million want away striker Romelu Lukaku.
Antonio Conte has made signing the Belgium international his number one priority and Inter are keen to make a statement by getting him his man.
Lukaku has struggled since snubbing Conte and Chelsea two years ago to move to Old Trafford and has fallen behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order.
And he has made no secret of his desire to link up with Conte who is looking to break the Juventus stranglehold on Italian football.
He said will on international duty last month that “for me he (Conte) is the best coach in the world,” a clear sign that he wants a move to Italy.
Inter know this and will try to use it to their advantage but United are demanding a down payment of around £50 million.
The Italian’s could also try to throw in striker Mauro Icardi as a makeweight as they are desperate to offload the controversial Argentinean hit man.
United have shown an interest in signing Icardi but are believed to favour a straight cash deal for the former Chelsea and Everton man.
